Although ecommerce and web design has become a necessity for increased sales, there is still a major fault that occurs in online stores. In physical stores customers can pull clothing off the rack, choose sizes and colours simply.

One of our favourite ecommerce and web design projects enabled us to put these physical features into the design – creating a warm website that embodied the look and more importantly feel of the product. Sermoneta Gloves was built to contain the human senses that one would feel when walking into a physical store.
Sermoneta already had a large following in Europe and other fashion capitals around the world; however, breaking into the London fashion scene required promotion not only for the London stores but also promotion online to a new generation of customers.
The project was focused around building a website that offered the same quality of service that staff provide customers in the physical stores – offering a unique experience of the brand through detailed images for each of their designs. Our aim was to create a website that would make the user feel like they were inside a shop.
The website was designed to maximize usability whilst portraying the products as high quality and sensual - comparable to the brand values. The use of splashed colours with leather textures and stitching as part of the overall conceptual design adds to feeling of luxury and sophistication; the tasteful use of photography maintains that feeling.
To improve the overall shopping process, we implemented a number of features. Within the product detail pages, colour options are displayed using a simple pallet feature to enable colour comparison at the base of each product detail page to assist customers in their shopping experience. A shopping bag remains visible even when shoppers add items to their bag allowing customers to continue shopping freely, encouraging customers to add further items to their shopping bag as opposed to checking out.
The technical ecommerce solution was custom made by Appnova; delivering an easy-to-use interface and allowing Sermoneta employees to make relevant updates to products, photography, prices and content-based pages, as well as specifically requested functionality such as stock control.
This new web design so far has been highly successful from the perspective of customer volume, revenue and satisfaction. Sermoneta have expanded to a new generation of customer with their new ecommerce website – providing customers all over London and the UK with their luxury gloves online.
